Teaching Kids Numbers in Spanish

You want to teach your kids numbers in Spanish? Excellent! It's great to know numbers in Spanish; you use them for so many things, like telling someone your age, telling the time, or talking about how much something costs.

Even if you don’t speak Spanish, you can teach your kids Spanish with My 5 Spanish Words of the Day. You can use the free YouTube videos below to learn numbers 1-20 in Spanish, and you can purchase the TpT Numbers Bundle for practice activities.

Let’s break it down.

Instructional Videos

The first step is learning the Spanish words for each of the numbers, including how to pronounce each word. You can do this for free with these YouTube Videos:

Practice

Once your kiddo has a good understanding of these words, you can give him or her a chance to practice with the coloring activity in the bundle below. You can also measure your kiddo’s knowledge with the assessment that is included in the bundle.

At my house, we use this schedule because I like my kids to do a little Spanish every day, and I think that repetition is really important. But, you can use the materials however works best for you and your family!

Teachers

If you are an elementary Spanish teacher, this bundle is great for you and your students. It can save you time and energy and be a great learning activity + assessment for your students!

Here are a few examples of how you can utilize this resource in your class:

Homework

If your students are old enough, you could have them watch the videos as homework so that they are already familiar with the words before they even come to class. You could also have them fill out the assessment as part of their homework assignment to help them actively listen to the instructional video. Then, have them complete the coloring page in class. Who doesn’t love coloring + you are reinforcing their learning. Amazing!

In-class

If your students are too young for homework, that’s okay! You could use the videos to introduce the new vocabulary in class. You could also use the assessment along with the video or save it for later, up to you. But, definitely take advantage of the coloring activity from the Numbers Bundle. It’s fun!
